Come to realize that I show you a lot of styles where I’m wearing cardigans or knits of different sorts. Although I would say I wear blazer at least 2 to 3 days out of 5 at the office I dare saying it has become more common to wear all sorts of knits. I think this is a general trend, not only my own styles, that has been going on for the last couple of years. It’s more and more accepted that business styles for women include cardigans and knits.
On a different note but same theme, pants on women might be added on that list… This makes me feel very old and very conservative but remember there was a time when skirt was The mandatory outfit for a woman in finance.
Same thing for the blazer, I can remember perhaps 10 years ago there wasn’t a day without me wearing a blazer. As I’ve always been a knit person I have totally embraced this trend and perhaps even enforced it as I keep on choosing styles involving knits. One more important thing – a blazer (or skirt) has never been a guarantee for style. It’s so much more involved – the cut, the quality, the fit, the combo… How to pull it all together!
Here is an example of how I would style a very conventional feminine blazer, making it personal and stylish. It’s not a suit but when combining a chic blazer with black jeans and black ankle boots it’s still very accurate and business wise.
Blazer – Giambattista Valli
Jeans – Rag and Bone
