Only two hours by ferry from Singapore and yet another universe. A crash tour to Tanjung Balai, Indonesia, and we left the western comfort behind. Mopeds with single or family drivers, gravel pavements, crowds, aircon units, smoking allierad insidors (and a lot of it!), no English spoken, gasoline sold in water bottles and also still friendly, welcoming, curious (how did you hear about this place, what are you doing here?)
Singapore is so much about an affluent mix of Asia and the west, this small trip took us to such a different place!
