I can’t help noticing that a lot of you are pursuing No shopping for one, two or three months. Others do more of the vintage shopping. I have to say I haven’t really adhered to any of it. Partly because it can easily pass one or two months without shopping for me anyway (when the reality of working gets in the way of my fashion interest…) and I have a closet full of my own vintage clothes…
But I do try to be very conscious as to when I buy something new. Not just buy something on a whim but to ask myself if this is an addition to my existing items, if the fabrication of the item is something that I would agree on
(ie not too cheap!) if the material is reusable or if the item could be resold (not that I’ve ever sold any of my clothes…) My hope is that by just instilling some consciousness to the act of purchasing it will prevent me from doing stupid picks.
Well that’s the theory! And generally it works pretty good. But of course there are exceptions to this beautifully thought out model.
As for this dress, it was bought today! On a whim, at Zara, bargain price, lousy material and my goodness, how many times do I think I will be wearing this crazy patterned dress?!
I can check every box on why I shouldn’t be buying it and still here I’m, the happy owner but with a lot of angst!
The color and the pattern was the catch with this dress! Kind of boho chic but with a craziness to it.
Have a great Sunday!
